1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in the same way: they keep a small piece of information on your device. In this policy, we call all of them “cookies”. Some are essential for the Website to work. Others are optional and are used only if you agree.
2. The cookies and storage we use
The table lists everything the Website can store on your device. The items in the analytics and marketing categories are loaded only after you consent in the cookie banner, and only if we have enabled them.
| Name | Purpose | Provider | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the language you chose (English, French or Arabic) | Pick2Rent (first party) | 1 year | Strictly necessary |
| p2r_consent | Stores your cookie choice. It is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie | Pick2Rent (first party) | Until you change it or clear your browser data | Strictly necessary |
| p2r_preview | Technical cookie for authorised staff who preview unpublished content. Never set for visitors | Pick2Rent (first party) | Not applicable to visitors | Strictly necessary |
| _ga | Distinguishes visitors to produce usage statistics (Google Analytics 4) | Up to 2 years | Analytics | |
| _ga_<ID> | Keeps session information for usage statistics (Google Analytics 4). The name ends with our measurement ID | Up to 2 years | Analytics | |
| Google Tag Manager | Loads the analytics and marketing tags we have configured, only after consent. It sets no cookie of its own | Not applicable | Analytics and marketing | |
| _fbp | Identifies your browser so that Meta can measure advertising results and visits that follow an ad (Meta Pixel) | Meta | 90 days | Marketing |
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These make the Website work. They remember your language (NEXT_LOCALE) and your cookie choice (p2r_consent). They do not require your consent. A technical cookie (p2r_preview) exists only for authorised Pick2Rent staff who preview content that is not yet published; it is never set for visitors. We do not use necessary cookies for advertising or tracking.
4. Analytics and marketing cookies
These are optional. Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager help us understand how the Website is used, for example which pages are visited, so that we can improve it. Marketing: the Meta Pixel lets Meta measure the effectiveness of our advertising and the visits that follow an ad.
These tools are not loaded until you accept them. If you decline, no analytics or marketing cookie is set. We may not use all of them at all times: the table shows what the Website can set when they are enabled.
5. How consent works
- When you first visit the Website, a banner asks you to accept or refuse the optional cookies. Nothing optional is loaded before you choose.
- Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under the name p2r_consent. It is not a cookie and it stays on your device.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it.
- If you withdraw your consent, we stop loading the optional tools. Cookies they have already set may remain on your device until they expire or you delete them (see section 6).
Declining optional cookies does not limit your access to the Website.
6. Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The steps depend on your browser: see the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, some features may stop working; for example, your language will not be remembered. Clearing your browser data also removes your cookie choice, so the banner will appear again.
7. Third parties
Google and Meta process the data collected through their tools under their own privacy policies, and may process it outside your country. We do not control them. For more information, see the Google privacy policy and the Meta privacy policy. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if we change the tools we use. The page shows the current version and date. If we add a new category of optional cookies, we will ask for your consent again.
9. Contact
For any question about cookies, write to hello@pick2rent.com or use the contact form. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and what your rights are.
